Ein Gespenst geht um: Prometheus.

– (griech.: der Vorausbedenkende), der Zeus hilft, die Herrschaft des Kronos zu beenden. Der für die Menschen das Feuer stiehlt und dafür in Zeus’ Auftrag an den Fels geschlagen wird. Noch als Gefesselter trotzt er den Göttern und agitiert gegen sie, bis einst Herakles ihn befreien wird.

Im gefesselten Techniker und Hüter des Wissens vom zukünftigen Ende der olympischen Herrschaft entdecken wir den Helden des ‚Kognitariats’. Ihn entfesseln könnte bedeuten, über die Grenzen der vermeintlich grenzenlosen Postmoderne und das angebliche Ende der Geschichte hinauszudenken. Denn dieser Krieg geht immer noch gegen uns. Mit unseren Klicks wird unsere Position bekämpft. Die Rache des Siliziums an der Kohle ist nicht, dass jede Zeche im Pott heute ein Kulturverein ist, sondern dass wir wie Prometheus gelernt haben, unsere Fesseln zu lieben. Den parasitären Adler, der auf uns scheißt, füttern wir mit unserem Innersten.

Vom 12.-19. April 2015 zündet die EGfKA deswegen eine Forschungsrakete in den Räumen des  Ringlokschuppen Ruhr. In einem Moment, in dem die neoliberale Alternativlosigkeit zunehmend von falschen, konservativen bis faschistischen „Alternativen“ in Frage gestellt wird, ist es höchste Zeit für prometheische, d.h. emanzipatorische Imaginations- und Gestaltungskraft. Eine Woche lang wird ein heterogenes Team an der Schnittstelle von Kunst, Wissenschaft, Kulturarbeit und Politaktivismus in einem theatralen Zukunftslabor Positionen dazu entwickeln, wie diese Entfesselung heute aussehen, sich anhören, bewegen oder anfühlen könnte.

A spectre is haunting us: Prometheus

– (Greek: forethinker, foreseer), he who helps Zeus to end the rule of Kronos. He who steals fire for humanity. He who is punished by Zeus, chained to a rock. While bound, he continues resisting the gods, agitates against them until Heracles comes to free him.

It is in the bound technician, in the guardian of the knowledge of the coming end of Olympian domination that we discover the hero of the ‘cognitariat’. Unleashing Prometheus means to be able to think beyond the limits of postmodernity unlimited, beyond the so-called end of history. War is still being waged against us. It is our own clicks that turn against us. Silicon’s revenge against coal is not found in the fact that the Ruhr mines have transformed into temples of art and culture. Silicon’s revenge lies in the fact that, like Prometheus, we have learnt to love our shackles. It is our innards that feed the parasitic eagle who shits on us.

In response, the EGfKA launched a research rocket in the from 12–19 April 2015. At a historical conjuncture when the neoliberal credo of no alternative is increasingly questioned by false, conservative, even fascist “alternatives”, it is time to create a Promethean – emancipatory and imaginative – counter-force. For a week, a heterogeneous team at the intersection of art, science, culture and political activism will come together to form a theatrical laboratory. The aim is to develop positions of what such an unleashing could look like, sound like, how it might move, what it might feel like.
